A Bright Colorblocked Mountain Shadows Wedding: Leila & Josh
It’s was a bright and sunny spring day in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Leila & Josh were set to get married at the iconic Mountain Shadows Resort, alongside their closest friends and family. Besides a random afternoon spring shower and a mid-ceremony 50mph single gust of wind (more on that later), the day went off without a hitch! ;)
L & J knew they wanted to have a wedding filled with color and fun… we opted to bring in some bright colors via colorblocking florals and boy were they showstopping. The other star of the show was their killer escort display brought to life by The Details Duo. This couple loves to go to Disney, and they met via a jammed apartment door where the neighbor had to help (Josh was the neighbor). Insert: LOVE IS AN OPEN DOOR!!!!!! We even got super clever and jammed one of the escort doors shut, so if you knew the couple’s story, you got the joke… but if you didn’t, it made for an excellent conversation starter.
So…about that gust of wind. As you can imagine, due to the mix of sunshine and rainearlier in the day, we also got a little bit of wind. Nothing too bad, until right before ceremony began. The wind picked up, but again, not unmanageable. Fast forward to our girl Leila walking down the aisle, while our team, plus the Mountain Shadows team set up dinner upstairs. With one single gust of wind (that just happened to be approx. 50mph), we lost Leila’s veil, the guest board flew off the welcome table and into the air, and all of the glassware & flatware that was pre-set upstairs came crashing down. Not the greatest sound to hear DURING the ceremony. But, as planners do, we jumped into action, recovered what we could, swept up all the broken glass, let the wind pass, and got re-set for dinner to begin on time. The magic of weddings- HA! Shout out to the MS team for always being the best in every situation.
Leila & Josh- from day one you trusted us and gave us creative freedom to make your day perfect. Thank you for being you and for not being afraid to make your wedding uniquely yours. Cheers to many more colorful and fun years of marriage. XO
